They ever do anything interesting, never show up in decent numbers home or away.

Good to see Verona go up. Would like to see Brescia join them through the play-offs.

The Novara-Empoli and Brescia-Livorno Serie B play-off ties both ended in 1-1 draws on Wednesday night.

The first legs of the semi-finals were played last night as all four outfits look to win the last remaining promotion spot to Serie A.

In Novara, Massimo Maccarone gave Empoli an early lead but the home team responded with a 36th minute penalty from Daniele Buzzegoli.

Brescia took the advantage in their home tie with a fine Andrea Caracciolo header. Livorno grabbed a 51st minute equaliser through Paulinho.

The return legs will take place on Sunday. Sassuolo and Verona have already gone up.
